Held from September 20th to 22nd, this renowned ecotourism fair in Spain will showcase the region’s unparalleled natural treasures and sustainable tourism offerings.
Naturcyl: A Hub for Ecotourism Excellence
Since its inception in 2018, Naturcyl has established itself as a cornerstone for fostering dialogue and business opportunities within the ecotourism and rural tourism sectors. The fair’s previous edition attracted an impressive 10,500 visitors, eager to discover the wonders of nature-based travel.
Central Portugal: A Tapestry of Natural Splendor
This year’s Naturcyl marks a groundbreaking moment with the introduction of an International Guest Destination. Central Portugal, with its rich tapestry of natural wonders, has been bestowed this prestigious honor. Turismo Centro de Portugal will be prominently featured at the fair, showcasing its vast natural heritage through a dedicated 27m2 stand. Additionally, the region will actively participate in the parallel B2B Nature Tourism marketing workshops.
A Haven for Nature Enthusiasts
Central Portugal’s allure lies in its diverse ecotourism offerings, encompassing UNESCO Geoparks like Estrela, Naturtejo, and Oeste, alongside captivating natural parks such as Tejo Internacional, Serra da Estrela, and Douro Internacional. The region also boasts the Malcata and Faia Brava reserves, among many other protected areas. Furthermore, it holds two European Charters for Sustainable Tourism: the Magical Mountains and the Lince (Iberian Lynx) Lands.
A Strategic Partnership
Raul Almeida, President of Turismo Centro de Portugal, highlights Spain’s significance as a strategic market for the region. “Spain is our primary source of tourists due to its proximity and the fact that it welcomes over 80 million visitors annually,” he states. “Both Spain and Central Portugal have witnessed a surge in demand for nature-based and rural tourism, products that form the core of Naturcyl. We are thrilled to have been chosen as the fair’s first International Guest Destination.”
Almeida firmly believes that this recognition presents a golden opportunity to promote Central Portugal’s ecotourism offerings and solidify its position as a leading nature tourism destination.
